Ofsted Success for Studio School – 21/05/2017
The Studio School here at the Academy recently received its first full Ofsted inspection since it opened in September 2014. The school offers a wide range of additional career based opportunities with a specific focus on both academic achievement and preparing students for the working world.
The inspection concluded that leadership and management of the school is outstanding with the quality of leadership at all levels described as excellent. Inspectors were impressed by the way that staff work in partnership with parents and find ways to help the students thrive. They noted that success is celebrated and students’ self-esteem is systematically developed, leading to increased confidence and good academic achievement.
The report states that the school’s governance is very strong. Inspectors recognised that governors share our vision of the Studio school as providing an outstanding education and are working with us to ensure that students receive this.
The inspectors found that teaching is effective leading to good outcomes at Key Stage 4 and very good outcomes at A Level. Provision of meaningful and valuable work experience was recognised as an important cornerstone of the Studio curriculum and the development of employability skills at Key Stage 4 was judged to be excellent.
The school was judged as “good” overall and the inspection found that they are very effective in meeting students’ needs.
Mike Cladingbowl, Executive Principal, commented, “We are absolutely delighted with the report and the progress the school has made since it opened. The school is now one of the top performing Studio Schools in the country and we have introduced a range of options that are proving very successful including our Football Academy who were recently crowned Cheshire Champions.” Mike. added further, “Our aim is to now for outstanding overall and we have already started to work on the key opportunities highlighted by the inspectors to achieve this.”
