Hampers of Hope – 17/12/108
As part of the Academy’s continued commitment to fundraising, members of staff along with the Sixth form student council wanted to do something to support those who can find the Christmas and winter period difficult.
We decided to support local based charity, Hampers of Hope for the second year running.
Hampers of Hope works towards relieving poverty in North East Cheshire, they collect non-perishable food items to make parcels for local people and families who are struggling to put food on the table. They also provide Hope Services which aims to address the root causes of poverty and work with the families to try to break the cycle.
Last year we collected donations across four year groups, and this year we wanted it to be even bigger and better so ran it across the whole school. As a school we completed ‘reverse advent calendars’ in our form groups, in doing this promoting kindness over the festive period. As ever, the students, staff and parents of the Academy community have been extremely generous in their donations meaning that we were able to give more items than ever before.
“I am, as always, so proud of the generosity and support we have had in our collection this year. When we put all of the donations together it was overwhelming how many items we had managed to collect, knowing how much it would help local families over the Christmas period brought a smile to all of our faces. The students, staff and parents here at Knutsford Academy went above and beyond in their kindness to help others and for that I am extremely thankful. When we dropped off the donations, Hampers of Hope were very grateful for our continued support. I look forward to doing it all again next year!” Miss Hilditch.
