41st Beswick Music Festival – 27/03/2019
Knutsford Academy recently hosted its Beswick Music Festival, the Academy’s annual celebration of musicianship which was established in 1978 and celebrated its 41st year. The evening saw over 60 students take part and commenced with a performance from the senior choir. This was then followed by an extensive range of vocal, ensemble and instrumental performances from students in Year 7 through to Year 13. The instrumental performances saw the students display their talents with a variety of both classical and modern music played on an array of instruments including the flute, piano, cornet and Ukulele.
The highlight of the evening saw Executive Principal, Mike Cladingbowl present both the Shorrocks Award to Thomas Roberts in Year 8 and the Wallace Rose Bowl to Liz Fraser in Year 13. Both awards are given for their overall achievements and commitment to music at the Academy.
Head of Performing Arts, Helen Mayne commented, “The Beswick Music Festival is such an important feature in the Performing Arts annual calendar of events and it was wonderful to have so many entrants from across the full age range of the Academy. The finalists gave superb, professional performances and we are, as ever very proud of their achievements”
