Heart Screening Day – 02/04/2019
Over 100 students at the Academy received a free heart screen on 2nd April, following a Heart Screening Day donated by Knutsford Community First Responders and delivered by Cardiac Risk in the Young. Every week in the UK 12 young people die from an undiagnosed heart condition, the heart screen is a simple way to detect most cardiac abnormalities.
James Routs from the Academy explained more, “We are delighted that over 100 Academy students received these screens, this day is only made possible thanks to the generosity of Knutsford Community First Responders, and we are grateful for their support. This is the second year in a row we have held the day and the screenings were booked up immediately, highlighting how important it is to get your heart checked out. Plans are already now in place to run another event in 2020.”
Lisa Johnson from Knutsford Community First Responders added, “The Knutsford Community First Responder Trust is delighted to have been able to facilitate another screening day at Knutsford Academy. It is so important to identify any cardiac issues in our young people to enable them to receive appropriate treatment allowing them to reach their full potential and lead long and healthy lives. We look forward to our next screening day in 2020!”
