Cheshire Studio School is based on the main Knutsford Academy site and opened in September 2014 in a state of the art new building.
The Studio School takes a different approach to the Academy with a combined focus on both academic achievement but also on employability and preparing students for the working world. This dual focus is reflected in the curriculum and options available at both Key Stage 4 and 5.
To help students prepare for the working world we work with an extensive range of businesses both local and global who help to bring the working world to life. This can be through interactive and business focussed workshops or specific projects. In addition, all students participate in work experience on a frequent basis with an extensive range of businesses.
Choice of Options
At Key Stage 4 students will still retain an academic focus and study a core 5 GCSE options including Maths, English Language and Literature and Double Science. We then have a range of options which are predominantly BTEC Level 1 or 2 qualifications, which including Construction, Engineering Hospitality & Catering, and Health & Social Care.
For Key Stage 5 (the Sixth Form) we offer a range of BTEC options centred around Business, Art & Design and Sport & Wellbeing. These options can then be combined with additional A Level courses run in The Sixth Form. The Studio also provides the opportunity to retake Maths and English GCSE.
In Key Stage 5 we also offer the Football Academy where most students opt to study a double BTEC in Sport which is equivalent to two A Levels and combine this with an extensive football coaching programme including FA qualifications.
If you would like to discuss any of the options available in the Studio School please do get in contact with us.
