Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome to Knutsford Academy 
Based in the heart of the historic town of Knutsford we offer secondary education to 1400 students aged from 11 to 18 years old. Students joining us in Year 7 spend their first year at the Westfield Drive site settling into life at Knutsford Academy. We welcome students from an extensive range of local primary schools both from within Knutsford but also the local area including Northwich and south west Manchester. In Year 8 students then move to the main site at Bexton Road through to Year 11 and the Sixth Form.
We have extraordinary students here and a talented group of staff, who work hard together to deliver our vision of academic excellence, a strong community and world-class opportunities. We have an enviable track record in preparing our young people for higher education and the world of work, which is strengthened even further with our Studio School that provides a range of options to support students who would like to progress to an apprenticeship.
Our expectations are high. We insist on exemplary conduct and encourage all students to do their best in all that they do and to play a full part in the many extra-curricular activities that we offer.
Examination results at A Level are consistently very strong. Over the last three years, The Sixth Form has a 100% A Level pass-rate, with A and A* making up approximately 40% of grades. This sees us as one of the top performing Sixth Forms in the country. At GCSE, results are substantially higher than the national average. In 2022, the percentage of students achieving English and Maths at grade 4 and above was 90.4% and grade 5 and above was 73.2%. By these measures we are the highest achieving secondary school in Cheshire East which, together with a progress 8 score of 0.39, sees us as one of the most successful schools in the country. These high results mean we regularly feature in the top 100 performing non-selective state secondary schools in the country as per The Sunday Times school league tables.
